Updated May 1, 2023

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown, Inc. will no longer require a mask mandate for guest families, volunteers, staff and/or visitors with a modified plan in place.

Please review the updated policy:

  • Anyone who is experiencing ANY signs of illness will be required to wear a face mask/covering while in the common areas of the House and interacting with others.
  • The COVID-19 pre-screening questions will remain a part of protocol.
  • Maintenance workers, technicians, and volunteers will continue to be screened for COVID-19 exposure and symptoms prior to entry into the building.

If anyone in the Ronald McDonald House (staff, patients, volunteers and/or visitors) chooses to mask, we are supportive and ask for your mutual respect if they choose to do so.

This policy is subject to change pending environmental factors and guidelines.

Thank you for your continued support.

Updated April 13, 2023

Dear Friends and Supporters,

For the past three years, COVID-related restrictions have impacted our ability to host groups and individuals.  While everyone was very understanding and appreciative of our unique environment, we know that folks missed being able to come in—and we missed having them.  We are delighted to welcome volunteers back to Ronald McDonald House Pittsburgh.  We invite you to review the guidelines that are currently in place and stay up to date on information and announcements by following us on social media or checking this website frequently.  Thank you for your patience and for your desire to support the Charity and its families.

More than 30 years ago, Ronald McDonald House Morgantown opened its doors to families traveling to the area to get life-saving medical care for their children. It opened with 16 private rooms and several common areas so that families had a place to rest and recharge while only being steps away from their child. Over the years, thousands of families have needed to stay at Ronald McDonald House Morgantown, and we are grateful we could be there for each one.

Since opening, the pediatric medical landscape in Morgantown has grown, resulting in more families relying on our services. In our quest to bring continued comfort and support to as many families who need us, we are excited to announce that the Morgantown House is expanding. The expansion includes additional family rooms and the renovations of the existing rooms, lobby, entrance, and family centered spaces. With the lead gift of $2 million from CONSOL Energy to our comprehensive campaign, More Than Just a House, the much-needed Morgantown House expansion began with a groundbreaking ceremony on October 7th with expected completion in Fall 2023. The House will remain open to families during construction.

Though we always appreciate the generous in-kind donations that make our Morgantown House a home, we will need to limit deliveries and on-site volunteer opportunities during this time. For more information on ways to support families at Ronald McDonald House Morgantown, please contact Kara Kimble, House Manager for Ronald McDonald House Morgantown, at kara@rmhcpgh-mgtn.org or 304-322-2073.

Dear Friends and Supporters,

All of us here at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown, Inc. are deeply grateful for the dedicated community of supporters who have weathered the storms of 2020 with strength and determination.  Each of you was determined to carry out the Charity’s mission despite enormous challenges.

Fortunately, during the entire pandemic, our doors remained open to families seeking comfort.  We’ve been there for them, offering something certain in the swirl of uncertainty.  While we may have had to adjust our processes a bit, we were here and, as the saying goes, “we didn’t miss a beat.”

Many of you asked how you could continue to support the families we serve—and you answered the call in mighty ways.  From supporting the newly-created Meal Fund to donating supplies, treats and even presents over the holiday season, there wasn’t a single day that the families staying here didn’t know how much they were cared for by you.  Your generous donations allowed families to stay together, no matter how far they are from home.

As operations begin to shift towards a return to normal, you can be confident that the health, safety and comfort of each guest remains a top priority.  We will keep you updated on important topics like when volunteers might be allowed back into the House and when extended families can stay once again.  With your help and understanding, we’re confident that each step will bring us closer to a more typical way of life here at the Charity.

Thank you for your continued support.  You are, without question, a vital part of the family!

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As we continue to navigate through these uncertain times, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown, Inc. remains committed to providing families with a safe and supportive environment.

For several months now, we have been safely welcoming new families back into our Houses. Our families are already facing adverse situations being far from home with a sick child and we are grateful to be able to help them during this exceptionally challenging time.

In addition, our Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is back on the road bringing pediatric medical services to underserved communities in the Greater Pittsburgh region.  This summer, the program safely provided much-needed immunizations and sports physicals.  These services were vital in helping families prepare for the upcoming school year.

Thank You!

We want to take a moment to thank everyone who has helped us carry out our mission during this difficult time. It has been nearly six months since we have had to suspend our volunteer programs, including our meal program.  In order to continue to meet this important need for our families, we have reached out to the community for help and you have responded by donating more than 300 meals. Furthermore, countless wish list items have been delivered to fill our pantries.

Additionally, we have had to cancel many of our special events this year. These events are so crucial in helping us sustain our mission. We are so fortunate though to have the ongoing support of our dedicated friends. Because of your generous donations, we have been able to keep our doors open and provide our families with the comforts of home.
